Talking with kids about drugs, safety, and tough situations isn’t always easy. This page is here to help you start those conversations, recognize warning signs, and find support when you need it.
Whether you’re a parent, caregiver, educator, or teen—these resources are here for you.
Start the Conversation: “Let’s Talk – Anytime”
You don’t need the perfect moment—you just need a starting point.
Try asking:
Understanding their world
- What do kids your age think about vaping or drinking?
- What have you heard about drugs at school or online?
Safety & peer pressure
- Has anyone ever offered you something that made you uncomfortable?
- What kinds of situations feel hard to say no in?
Decision-making
- What would you do if a friend was doing something dangerous?
- How do you think kids handle pressure in those moments?
Refusal skills
- What helps you say no when something feels off?
- What would make it easier to walk away?
Support system
- Who would you call if you needed help—no questions asked?
- How can I support you if you’re ever in a tough situation?
Tip: Listen more than you talk. Stay calm, stay curious, and keep the door open.
